I am Sonya 'Sarayu' Lyn.

'Sarayu' is the spirit name that came to me in meditation as a constant inspiration and reminder. It means 'Breath of the Wind' and it is there in the whisper of the breeze through the trees that I am reminded of my purpose; to guide others to connect to theirs.  It is in that breeze that I connect with Spirit.  So, I hold that close in name.

I'm a gypsy, barefoot-bohemian,

tea-loving, labyrinth-walking, bibliophile

(book addict), spiritual life guide with an affinity for living authentically, mindfully &

with intent everyday.

My family is my greatest passion, my support, my inspiration & we are writing the next chapter of our lives in New Zealand, after selling most of our belongings in Canada & chasing this dream of ours to one day soon create a family village & retreat space of Olde World influence.

I draw my own spiritual path from Christianity, Buddhism & Earth Wisdom & have created a belief system that leads me daily into inner peace.  My prayers come from many cultures, my ceremony and ritual comes from history,

from the ancients and I believe in

spirituality over religion.

I feel that anyone can find the balance within by being open &

true to what moves their soul.

'The privilege of a lifetime is

being who you are.'

~Joseph Campbell

A bit more of my story...

In 2003, at a retreat, my first walk on the narrow pathways of a Chartres design  canvas labyrinth changed how I was living my life

It literally taught me to stop rushing through my days and slow down to actually live each moment.  It became a profound and necessary part of my spiritual journey.  I sought them out, walked them in places where others didn't even notice their existence.

I was blessed to learn from Lauren Artress herself, the founder of Veriditas ~ the worldwide labyrinth organization.  I became a Veriditas Trained Labyrinth Facilitator (VIA,) in 2008, and a part of a supportive community of professional labyrinth facilitators sharing ideas and providing education in the growing field of labyrinth facilitation.

My work with the labyrinth has guided walkers to discover depths within themselves, to dip their souls into the answers within, simply by walking with purpose and intention.

In 2008, I furthered my spiritual journey with a two-year training in Spiritual Direction.  I wanted to be able to authentically support those who walked the labyrinth with me by offering my guidance, holding the space and leading them into their own spiritual practices.  As a Spiritual Wellness Guide, through the Ontario, Canada Jubilee Associates, I offer deep listening and contemplative guidance into discovering one's connection to their Divine.

I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher and Transformational Meditation Teacher.  My approach to yoga is led by the breath and the spirit, guiding students through the asana practice towards an intention within themselves.  I chose meditation at a time in my life when nothing else would touch my anxiety and stress and its effects were miraculous, now, I offer others various approaches to meditation to find that stillness within body and mind, as there exists a practice that resonates with each individual.

All of these practices are the key to creating my authentic life and the creative force behind inspiring others to do the same.

My personal spirituality is nurtured by nature.  I am moved by standing among ancient trees,  I can feel them breathing when I place my forehead to their bark.  Wandering along the beach listening to the ocean, meditating on cloud formations that could only be painted by God and immersing myself in sacred gardening practices, I connect and heal.  By recognizing and attuning to the Earth's Energies, we can reach places within ourselves that hold the keys to deeper purpose and clarity.

I have been leading Labyrinth Walks, Women's Retreats, Mother & Daughter Retreats, Spirituality Groups & Creativity Workshops since beginning my own Spiritual Journey in 2004.

This is my authentic life...I now continue it here in Aotearoa.
